Examinations Available

The American Board of Dental Examiners competency assessment exams for Dental Sedation and General Anesthesia are designed to assess the clinician’s current knowledge base to provide in-office sedation and/or general anesthesia.

There are four examinations available, each specific to a level of sedation:

  • Minimal Sedation
  • Moderate Sedation
  • Deep Sedation/General Anesthesia
  • Pediatric Sedation

These examinations are computer-based multiple-choice exams delivered at a Prometric Testing Center. Each exam is comprised of 60 multiple-choice questions that are designed to assess core knowledge, as well as assess the knowledge that is specific to the level of anesthesia being evaluated.

These 60-question multiple-choice computer-based examinations are administered at a Testing Center. Disciplines and subject matter include:

  • Pre-operative/Patient assessment
  • Intra-operative
  • Post-operative
  • Emergency Management
  • Case Scenarios

Individual/Retake $495 per exam type

Registration credit use/refund must be completed within two years of original payment date, minus any applicable administrative fees. Registration credits not valid for use or refund beyond expiry date [2 years from initial date of payment].
